The St. Clair River/Lake St. Clair waterway forms an international boundary between the United States and Canada. The waters of the area are an important part of the cultural heritage of the area and serves as an important water-supply and power-generating resource; the waterway also supports an economy based largely on recreation, agriculture, and manufacturing.
The Thames River Clear Water Revival (TRCWR) is a long-term partnership initiative that is committed to a healthy and vital Thames River, which will ultimately benefit Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie.

Clair, is a major source of pollutants (Gewurtz et al.,Kauss and Hamdy,Raeside et al.,UGLCCS, ), and thus may be representative of conditions in the St.
Clair River. The St. Clair River and Lake St. Clair flow into the Detroit River, connecting Lake Huron and Lake Erie. Heavy urban and industrial development, and the use of the channels as transportation corridors through one of North America's great inland waterways, have contributed to water quality.
The channel runs in a northeast-southwest direction from the mouth of the St. Clair River to the head of the De- troit River and has a maximum depth of m (EC and U.S. EPALake St. Clair Canadian Water- shed Coordination Council ).
The particulate Cs activity discharged from St. Clair River into the lake and discharged out of the lake by the Detroit River was calculated to be ( ± ) × 10 10 and ( ± ) × 10 10 Bq, respectively, and the annual amount of buried particulate Cs into the lake is estimated to be 69% ± 14% of the total annual amount.
Based on a – time series from Canadian monitoring programs, Burniston et al. () documented a significant decline in the load from Lake Huron to the St.
Clair River and showed that earlier estimates of this flux were low by a factor of three due to historical reliance on sparse water quality sampling. They also measured the load to Lake St.
